During our visit to the "PIT" we watched the number 1 scorer (Reggie Williams - Virginia Military Keydets) in the NCAA put the ball in the basket rather quickly while putting his skill, basketball knowlege, and unselfishness on display throughout the tournament.  It was such a great pleasure to be courtside watching these talented kids. Hope to see some of them soon overseas or in the NBA.

Looking down at the end of the court were three rows of tables that seated many NBA veterens including Larry Bird and Danny Ainge both of the Boston Celtics.  Scouts, officaials, and  a plethora of basketball folks.  I must say that it was "really cool" to see.

We also met and visited with both the Director and the Assistant Director of NBA Scouting.  What we learned from Marty and Ryan Blake was simple..scouting is very important and it isn’t just about being drafted.  Events like the PIT are good for the community and good for the players. It was nice to watch these guys play well, regardless of where they're from. Hopefully we will see more of them soon in the NBA.

Among the packed stands were people from all over the nation including many International scouts and owners -- all looking for the next impact player. We also attended a luncheon held by the PIT staff.  What a wonderful event! The luncheon was attended by all of the PIT players, the many PIT volunteers, the Mayor of Portsmouth and various people from the NBA.  I also spoke to Chris Alpert - Vice President of Basketball Operations & Player Personnel NBA Development League about media and business -- very cool cat!

I'd like to end by saying "thank you" to all of the folks from the PIT who invited us to come visit.  The hometown hospitality and delicious southern cooking was out of this world!  Thanks to the Director of the PIT - Mahlon Parker, Cliff Sayles and Mike Morr is for making our stay such a pleasure - Thank you gentleman.

We look forward to going back to Portsmouth for 2009 - right after the Final Four '09. Thank you for visiting and come back soon for more videos and news.  Click on the PIT Icon for more 2009 tournament information
